In search for a special mouse recommendation

My father has arthritis and he is in need of a mouse that will help alleviate some stress of use. So naturally, an ergonomic mouse comes to mind.

I took a look at the way he holds a mouse and he sticks up his middle finger and holds it up, as if waiting to click instead of resting it on the mouse itself. This makes me wonder if it's better for him to use an ergonomic trackball design to change the way he holds the mouse.

Any ideas or recommendations on this?

Does everyone pretty much concur with the Quill mouse as the best design for arthritis then?
