Arrow Do virtual drives affect system performance.

I have a virtual drive made by Alcohol 120%. Does the existence of this virtual drive create lower system performance than without it?

In my experience no it does not hinder any system performance. ALso when you are using it cd load speeds are increased significantly. So no it does not hinder performance.

I've use the Alcohol Virtual drive for quite some time now, on my last two computers, I've really found no issues. I usually try to unmount the images when I am done using them, and I do know there are certain products that will not work if there is a virtual drive installed. It basically searches the PC for a virtual drive system, and will disable the software until it is removed. Personally, I've not encountered this problem, nor would I use a program with such a malicious form of copy protection. I figure if they want to punish innocent people because of the nature of the Legal software that their product finds on a system, they can do without my business.

I use Nero's image drive and have never seen any issues of lower performance. As compgeek said I have seen performance increases by using images. Legal issues aside I prefer to use images, saves wear and tear on the actual media.
