No more than 8% difference between 2MB and 4MB at the same processor speed.

If the price difference is only $100 then I'd go for it. It might not make a huge difference now, but you never know, it could make more of a difference in future games or other apps..

100 dollars is a lot of money, if it ment......40 gig more hard drive space with 7200rpm, then sure that seems fair 2 megs of l2 cache.......no........just no........put it more towrads ram/hdd/dvd rw/blu ray or somthing thats just me, but i think 100 dollars for 2 megs of l2 cache is pointless and a waste, but hey if you got the money to waste go for it soulsaver |

meh. It really depends on your needs, if you will be using games or applications that are processor dependant you will welcome the added processor speed although it won't make much of a difference in games unless you are into the bragging rights game.
It's not like if you pick the faster processor you are going to game 50+ frames per second on a game or be completely unplayable on the other. In my case, since I sometimes work with professional applications the processor speed is a plus. In the end, it is your decision to put the $100 difference towards RAM (make sure you have at least 1GB for gaming) or a DVD/RW unit to backup large quantities of data. For video card a 128MB one will let you play games nicely but a 256MB will give you better textures and in the case of some games allow you to play at higher screen resolutions. The decision is yours. Since you didn't post the configuration you are interested in we can't be of much help so we are just putting out some general advise. |

I think the question's been answered already, it won't make a huge difference, but it will make a slight difference.. Seems like all you're using that system for is gaming and in that it won't make much of a difference. So pretty much the only benefit you'll get out of it is a couple more FPS and points on benchmarks. Now you just have to decide if that's worth $100 or not..
If you ever decided to change that around to an SQL server or something like that, then it'll probably make quite a bit more of a difference.. ![]()
