Exclamation Area-51 7500 vs. Aurora 7500....Better for Gaming? SLI?

Ok, what are the differences between the Area-51 7500 and the Aurora 7500?

Which one is better for EXTREME gaming?

I see the mother boards, are different, which one is better for gaming as well?

Also, are both desktops SLI? So if I picked the STOCK version of the card, it would still have SLI? So in the later future, I can just put another card in them right?

Thanks!!! :awdance: :awdance: :awdance:

Mogg, Alienware uses the terms Area 51 and Aurora to denote Intel and AMD based systems.

Area 51=Intel
Aurora=AMD

As of about a month ago with the release of the new Intel conroe chips, Intel is beating AMD in the desktop market. With that being said the Area 51 would be better for gaming. The reason the mobos are different, is because of the Intel/AMD socket types. I'm sure there isn't that big of difference between the performance/quality of either mobo. In the 7500 series of desktops, both the Area 51 and Aurora can be configured for SLI (I didn't check the 5500s). You would be able to buy just one card now, another later, and then enable SLI, just make sure you get the same card.

Plain is right. The only difference is the cpu and mobo, and thats only because, as Plain said, intel uses a different socket type than amd.

The advantage of the area-51 is the cpu, the new(ish) core 2 duo. They are as of now the superior chip on the market, and come in 5 different levels (6300, 6400, 6600, 6700, 6800extreme). The dissadvantage of alienware (in my oppinion) is that they only offer the 6400, 6700, and extreme, when (again, in my oppinion) the 6600 gives the best performace to price ratio, along with superior overclocking possibilities, even compared to the 6700 and 6800extreme.

The dissadvantage of buying the area-51, and possibly even the aurora, is that as of now they are very backordered, and if you were to purchase one today you could probably expect it in the middle or end of october, unless something has changed that I am unaware of.

Area-51. Conroe blows away anything AMD has on the market right now. Go area-51 for sure. The only prob with the area-51 is major backorders. You won't get your comp for a good 2 months or so at this rate.

Hey Eros 18...... I would say whatever computer he decided on is almost old enough for an upgrade....
