What comes after the Predator Case
I was wondering what AW might do next to envigorate the desktop line and found the decision of what to do next daunting...
Even though the Predator Case has been around for 2 years, it is still Mondo Cool. I'm kinda wondering what yall think Alienware could do with a future desktop case. My entry, off the top of my head of course, a 1950s style saucer shaped case that is all wireless or bluetooth and can be hung from the ceiling with no cables attached. Don't ask me how to get power to it. |

hmmm... I dread this beings I just got my AW no more then two months ago. I also wonder this! They realy dont half to do to much to compete now. One thing I would do is offer custom paint jobs and maby a window case kind of like DB creation!

I'd like to see a window option for the Predator case too.

This may not go with the AW production line as it is now, but how about offering the top manufacturers latest, greatest and most popular cases w/custom paint, custom windows and custom lite shows.
Novel idea huh? Zoid |

You really need a metal case for paintjobs to work the best.
On another note, how about a case shaped like the head of an alien (from movies like "Aliens") with the optical drives in a pull out enclosure that slides out like the second set of jaws in the movie aliens?

the floating alien saucer idea is sweet. if alienware invented beamable power, they would be richer than bill gates. somehow integrating the optical drives into the exterior would be nice, if they could keep it looking sweet. the predator is nice, but having to open that door up all the way to get any cd/medi in is a pain. :awgreen:

Good question here... Maybe the front door access to DVD drives should be reworked a bit. Instead of us opening it up, the door could slide down to reveal the CD or DVD rom and go back up once the cd/dvd is in. What do you think?

i say they keep it forever... so i can built a nice arsenal of PCs like DB did... they look so tight when you line them all next to each other...
i mean, look how long they kept the original Aw cases back in the late 90s... |

I like the Predator, but I would like to see it updated with more media centered things like front firewire and video in ports.

You're correct alien5152...the front door opening only 90* is a pain. Specially if you sit with the Predator on your right...
Any front door in the future should slide up or down and out of the way (not real sure how to do that cost effectively), or be easily removed/replaced with one quick step by the end user or at least swing open 270*. Zoid |

As far as the door goes, a vertically mounted slot drive that feeds at the crease in the middle would be cool.

I say go back to the cool hydraulic cases. Those were awesome. Luckily my boss has one in the lab.
