Hard drive help...

I have a Western Digital WD5000AAKS that I scavenged out of an external hard drive that crashed. Hooked it up to my wife's XPS 720 and tried to run it...it recognizes that a drive is there, but nothing else. Also causes her machine to freeze on occasion.

I know there's some software from western digital for diagnosing these thigns but I can't seem to find it on their site. I fyou huys know where the program is...or know of something I can try...I would appreciate the advice.

I also build bows...like as in archery.

Anyone want a bow or a wire figure? I need XPS M1710 parts...

Is there like a "most helpful member ever" button somewhere? I guess I'm just used to the "search noob" mentality.

Thanks!

wow....having to write zeroes to every sector to repair this drive. You have to confirm every sector. There is no "yes to all" selection. Stupendous.
