What is Doom 3 Built-in-Benchmark
The Doom 3 Built in Benchmark is a built in graphical tool that will test the performance of Doom 3 on the computer you are playing on. The Doom 3 Built in Benchmark is not a built in test or demo like the Counterstrike: Source or Company of Heroes demo. The Doom 3 benchmark needs to be accessed via three console commands. The first command will record a demo of actual gameplay that you the player will record, the second command stops recording, and the third will run the benchmark tool on the recorded demo.
How to open the Console
CTRL +
ALT +

(Hit the tilde key while holding the CTRL and ALT keys)
Step 1: While in game, open the console, type recorddemo demoname “ (exclude quotes, if you do not include a demo name, it will default to demo000)
Step 2: Play for 2-3 minutes and then type stopdemo
, or until you die, or until you quit to menu
Step 3: Open the console, type “timedemo demoname “

At the end of the benchmark, the program will output a screen that looks like this. This number represents the average Frames per Second. The higher the number, the better your computer can handle running Doom 3 . To find how well your computer can run the test, the graphic options should be set on the highest possible resolution and settings. This will determine on what level your notebook stands and can be compared to other notebooks on this site.
